1. Begin by opening a project and going into the Studio One Options/Preferences menu item. On a Windows system, you will find this under Studio One > Options and on a Mac this under Studio One > Preferences.
2. Once the Options window opens, select Locations at the top and then VST Plug-ins from the tabs that appear. This is where we direct the Studio One software to read the location of our Plug-ins.
3. Next, click Add at the bottom left of the window. This will pull up a file browser that will allow us to choose the location of your plug-ins.
4. Now, select the folder where the AIR Plug-in .dll files are located. The default locations are different on Windows and Mac, so please select your folder accordingly. In many cases, the default locations are as follows:
Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Air Music Technology
Macintosh HD > Library >Audio > Plug-Ins > VST
5. Once you have selected your plug in folder, it should appear in the Location window. Hit Apply and OK.
6. Your Plug-ins should now be available to access from your Instrument menu.
Creating an instrument Track
Now that we have successfully loaded our AIR plug-ins into the Studio One 2 software, let's pull up the plug-in on an instrument track.
1. First, we want to create an Instrument Track. To do this, you can go to your Track menu and select Add Instrument Track.
2. Once you have created the Instrument Track, we want to load the plug in onto the track. To load a plug-in, click on the box directly below the track name that reads None. This will display a drop down menu, that will allow you to choose your plug-in. In this scenario, we will be selecting Hybrid 64-bit plug-in.
3. Now your plug has been loaded onto your track. If you have a midi keyboard set up in the Studio One 2 software, you should start getting some sounds when hitting the keys. If you'd like to access the user interface of your instrument plug-in, click on the piano icon on the right side of your Track Header.
4. Now, from the user interface, you can begin changing your presets and adjusting the sounds to your preference.
